For my last wedding of the year, I was off to one of my favorite locations for weddings Palm Springs. Liz and Mehdi held their wedding at The Saguaro Hotel, this colorful hotel is an absolutely perfect location for any couple that wants a bold colorful Palm springs wedding day, Seeing the colorful venue made this photographer’s heart smile, I can’t believe this was my first time here and hopefully, it’s not my last.
We started the day with some getting ready images before doing the first look and heading off to a little hidden desert area for some photos before the ceremony. The rolling rocky hills and the sun setting behind them made for the perfect backdrop to this palm springs wedding and Liz and Mehdi were up for everything I suggested, and that just makes the day that much more fun. After photos, it was time for the ceremony, followed by the reception.
I have photographed a lot of wedding receptions and there is something so fun when you get to witness something new! During the ceremony, the guest performed the Persian Cake knife dance, so if you’re like me and had no idea what that was, is when the bride and groom are ready to cut the cake, someone on the bride’s side steals the cake knife and starts dancing with it, and keeps passing it off to other guests. The groom has to pay up in some way to get the knife back. It was so much fun to witness and this group was a lot of fun all night, they also had this amazing moment on the dance floor with confetti cannons. We ended the night with more dancing and a sparkler exit.
When you get to end the year by photographing such a wonderful couple and a fun wedding it just makes you think how wonderful it is getting to do what I do. Congratulation’s you two and thank you for all the wonderful memories.
